Oh Hai!

Hey everyone!  Guess its time for me to get off the sidelines.  I have a bunch of stuff sitting on my harddrive that never sees the light of day -- gotta get better about that...

Some character variation sketches for a personal project I'm developing.  First pass--

A little refinement--

I'm flattered to have been invited to contribute to such a talented group.  Thanks for letting me tag along! :]

wish it was warm again...

And in the element of light
The sun reflected from the waves
Inshore it spangles
The child of air is borne upon the wind that blows across the sea
And in the element of summer
The cliffs suspended in the heat
The air in columns...

I wish i knew who wrote this.

Theme Paintings ( Under the Sea)

So on James Paick's blog he speaks about the different themes one can paint for environmental concept art. So I have decided that each day I will try to bust out 3 - 5 paintings for that particular theme ( I know he can do 5 in a day , I am not that fast .... at least not yet)

Something that I started is that I work on each painting in 20 minute intervals , and I put an online timer on my other screen. When I see that time winding down I force myself to be bolder with my decision. As soon as it hits 20 minutes I start a new painting and I keep rotating. So I kept each one of these to 2 hours a piece. However, before all this I gather some reference and spend about 20 minutes doing rough sketches on pen and paper before jumping to digital. I will be doing more tests on this and themes. Next theme is cliffs.

Tight Black Suit

A tight black suit seems like all the rage to all of our female heroines and villians! It amazes me that after all these years we still stick to the same tricks to design a female hero. Only a few movies that I can really think of really pull through and bring us some unique and re-memorable female heroines! Kill Bill's Beatrice was one of them, in her awesome yellow jump suit which was a throw back to the awesome Bruce Lee.

I saw the latest Catwoman design, and was greatly underwhelmed. I get she starts as a burglar, and evolves into the Catwoman, but I feel that this ideation is the easy way out. I trust in Nolan's story telling and will still have much hype for the upcoming film, but honestly they shouldn't have shown us anything.

Anyways, what do you guys think, and I pose this challenge for you all! If you had an opportunity to redesign Catwoman, how would you do it? Feel free to post designs on the blog :)
